The People Act was a joint project of CBS and the Ford Foundation. The premises was that radio dramatization of real life community problems could help solve those problems. Topics included juvenile delinquency in Seattle and slum conditions in Harlem. The show made broad use of newly developed tape recorders, putting miles of recorded actualities and sound effects in the CBS archive.
